Both require an AV receiver of some sort to operate. I paired it with a Pioneer receiver and the sound is just amazing. You can literally feel the bass in the next room.

Additional Product Features
JBL has announced a pair of new home theater sound systems including the JBL Cinema 610 and JBL Cinema 510. Both of the home theater audio systems are designed for plug-and-play connectivity to any AV receiver using the included speaker cables. The audio systems also feature a small footprint subwoofer and wall brackets allowing users to mount the satellite speakers to the wall. Compact enough to fit into any living space, the JBL Cinema 610's 4 voice-matched satellites and dedicated center speaker can be wall-mounted. The JBL system should not be overlooked just because it isn't atop our lineup. This system sounds really good, sharp and powerful.
Sound should project from all of the speakers and immerse viewers with surround sound. Instead, the front-left and front-right speakers were doing the majority of the audible lifting. Both of these home audio systems are designed to support 5.1 surround sound. Both the 610 and the 510 sound systems are available to purchase right now. The JBL Cinema 610 carries an MSRP of $349 while the 510 sound system carries an MSRP of $249.
They should "work" for surrounds , but the bigger issue is the mishmash of speakers in your system. Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Also, no need to spend $$$ on Monster cable in the future.
Thank you very much Jason, that was some great help. Yep my speakers are a mishmash of different speakers. I plan to go all Klipsch or maybe Martain Logan or PSB in a couple years. I received the JBL 240Tis from a friend who upgraded to some B&W speakers. And the Primus I bought that at a yard sale for $20.
Many of the top home theater systems in our lineup vary only slightly in audio quality. Just because the JBL Cinema 610 didn't rank among the best home theater systems, that doesn't mean it's inferior. We had a listening panel compare the systems against each other. Our panelists critiqued each system by based on its bass response, surround sound effect and dialogue clarity as they watched a scene from an action film. Right from the start, it was apparent that this system featured both great dialogue clarity and bass response.
One of our listening panels described the dialogue clarity as "stellar." The JBL speakers received high marks throughout the testing. The Cinema 510 has a 6.5-inch powered subwoofer and five voice-matched satellite speakers. The subwoofer in the system has 60W of power and the system includes all cables and accessories required for installation.
The Infinity Primus center is pretty recent . The matching mains would be the Primus 250s, but they might be hard to locate. Of the currently available products, the Primus 253s are probably your best bet. Horn tweeters have a rather distinct sound to them. Hopefully it won't be much of a distraction - again, since these are for surround speakers, it's less crucial.
Turn your flat panel TV into a full home theater with the JBL Cinema 610. Easily connects to any audio/video receiver, the JBL Cinema 610 delivers a box office experience that can’t be matched anywhere else. With customized wall-mount options and an easy plug-and-play format, you’re headed to the movies in no time. The small footprint subwoofer and wall mount capability means that these speaker systems will fit into just about any room. The Cinema 610 sound system has an eight-inch bass reflex 100W powered subwoofer and four identical satellite speakers. The system also has a dedicated center channel speaker and all the speakers are voice matched.
I have tested the system out by watching The Meg, several Game of Thrones episodes, some Christmas movies and even streaming music through it. It is worth the $400 this system is listed at on their website, so getting it for $150 was a real steal. I am now planning to get one for my garage to I can listen to my music or watch the games while I do my woodworking. Those JBL 240s are pretty old, and it's pretty likely there IS NO matching center for them. Your best bet will be to consider updating them.
