- Waitrose online: how to book a food delivery or click-and-collect slot today
Tesco has been consistently more efficient in delivering what we ordered than Waitrose, over the last 18 months, and it’s interesting to see that this month’s Which? Report shows Waitrose as the worst of all the supermarkets for delivering fresh food. Not impressed either with a substitute for a meat item which weighed 25% less than we ordered. It's a kind of merry-go-round; they will lose some customers to other supermarkets until they start putting up their charges (Tesco already have changed to a standard charge of £4.50). The much higher prices were tolerable when delivery was free, but a £5 charge on top of those higher prices - no thanks. I do get the odd £10 off email vouchers but only for over £100 and with high delivery charges it just won’t be worth it.
This place isn't anything fancy and I don't suggest it for a romantic weekend out but if you're just trying to find a place to crash and need a warm bed it works just fine and won't cost you too much. Delivery in Leeds and Portsmouth are mostly the same, with a few for this week and some more popping up from December onwards. Generally, slots are more available starting the following week; this is the case with most Waitrose delivery slots and it is what we expect from Waitrose now. You might be sick of hearing it, but checking back daily is the best way to find a Waitrose delivery slot. The website shows when slots are available, and it’s easy to switch between different addresses if you’re looking for family and friends. It’s also worth checking if any click & collect slots are available if you can’t find a delivery slot.

Information on specific couriers will be in your dispatch email. Once shipped, please allow 3 working days to receive your items. Look for the delivery options and timescales listed alongside each product.
Tesco's delivery pass is less at £7.99 a month and that is for the most expensive one, with club card points available to earn on top, which can even pay for the delivery pass. It's a similar decision to last year's Christmas delivery slots. They released them without warning as a free for all and left many vulnerable, shielding customers who usually are given priority and rely on a weekly delivery without one at all. It also comes at a time when many Waitrose delivery customers are reporting a long list of substitutions and a number of items not being sent or even substituted because of stock issues. The Anytime Delivery Pass covers deliveries any day of the week and costs £7.50 per month or £40 for six months or £80 for 12 months. I was really impressed with Waitrose’s response to increased deliveries during lockdown, they seemed to redeploy suitable staff very quickly.
What steps are you taking to avoid the potential spread of coronavirus via delivery personnel?
It’s that I don’t have spect to pay a fee for delivery and for groceries to be more expensive per item. I think it is important to provide bags for those shielding or who would struggle physically. They will take away used bags for recycling, including from other shops and things like bread bags which can now be recycled too. In the past I have noticed times when the cost of items for delivery is more than on the shelf in the shop as well. Under £100 £3.95 Order by 9pm Mon-Fri to collect from your local Waitrose & Partners store from 3pm next working day. Orders placed after 9pm on Friday and before 9pm on Monday will be available for collection from 3pm on Tuesday.
The highlilghts are that it is in an excellent location near many restaurants and the town center. There is paid parking nearby but its not cheap, like 35 euro a day but i guess thats pretty standard. The rooms are small, but just fine if you don't need anything fancy.

Whether you shop at Asda, Iceland, Morrisons, Ocado, Tesco, Sainsbury's or Waitrose, we reveal how to find the cheapest supermarket online delivery deals, including the price of monthly passes. For self-isolating customers who can’t get to the shops themselves. It’s a simple, safe and contact-free way to get your groceries delivered by a friend or family member, and can be purchased online.
And as the nearest store is a 20 minute drive, I'll simply buy from Waitrose less often. Very likely we'll be dropping down from a weekly Waitrose delivery to trying out other options. I'm currently very tempted by Tesco's saver options and perhaps the occasional Waitrose delivery rather than a regular one. I look at it from the point of view of paying someone to do something I can't do myself. And I don't suppose it comes cheap - the picker's time, the driver's time, the vehicle. “Before the pandemic, we were taking 60,000 orders a week – we’re now doing well over 200,000 orders,” Marija Rompani, Director of Ethics & Sustainability at the John Lewis Partnership, comments.
Some of that is the change from High Street to retail and changing incomes . But some of it is John Lewis’s standards plummeting both in terms of quality and customer service. Of the major grocery retailers, it is understood to now only be Iceland that still offers free delivery, on all orders over £35.
But no reduced delivery charges for less popular slots/no delivery passes makes it less attractive. TheOcado Smart Passentitles you to no extra delivery charges, lets you save at least 10% on selected items and offers access to exclusive sales among other benefits. Alternatively, a Midweek pass for Tuesday to Thursday deliveries costs £3.99 for a month, £22.49 for every six months or £39.99 annually. If your Delivery Pass ends up costing more than standard delivery charges, Morrisons will give you a refund. While Iceland doesn’t sell delivery passes it does offer aBonus Card, which will give you access to exclusive offers both in-store and online. If you regularly do your grocery shopping online, it's vital you track down the cheapest supermarket delivery deals or you'll end up wasting a load of cash.
I strongly don’t think it should be charged on lower orders only. Yet another way those on lower incomes, living alone or whatever end up paying more. It'll be bags next; only Waitrose still packs the shopping in bags, all the others make you unpack out of the crate yourself. Again not a major problem for me personally, but if I had reduced physical movement or limited strength I can see it being a problem. All the other supermarkets charge so I've been expecting this one to be honest.
The post also explains "To ensure that customers can get what they need, both in-store and online, we've set a purchase limit on a small number of items." On rare occasions some items may be delivered outside of the published timed windows. Waitrose & Partners store does not accept any liability for losses arising from wines being delivered outside of the selected time slot . You may return your items via any Waitrose & Partners (except branches in Welcome Break; the Channel Islands; Scotland; Wales; Foodhalls at John Lewis & Partners; and Waterside).
If you’d prefer to use click & collect, simply select your groceries with Waitrose online and select click & collect before you checkout. Availability is generally good but will vary depending on your area, so we can only advise that you keep checking for new slots when you can. Waitrose is asking customers to only send one member of the household to do the shopping, to help make stores less busy. While this won’t be possible for everybody, it is useful for the shop to remain more spacious. Just like in Asda, Tesco and other supermarkets, hand sanitiser stations can be found at the entrances of all Waitrose shops.
I’ll be moving to 3 weekly deliveries in that case, with the other weeks Click And Collect at Sainsbury’s for free. I think dropped demand has a lot to do with current water shortages. Delivery guy said this is what they are thinking - people not bothering with delivery of a heavy bulky item just isn’t available.
I’ve got my next 4 week’s orders already placed so hopefully I can have those free. It’ll depend on how much they are going to charge as to whether I continue with Waitrose deliveries. Named Day delivery FREE on orders over £250 or £8.95 on orders under £250 Date of your choice, subject to availability. Please note, during busy times such as 25% off 6 bottles or more, the 9pm order cut-off time is subject to change.
